OAK CREEK A PPROVAL OF AIRPORT SITE

OAK CREEK APPROVES REZONING OF LAND TO PARK

OAK CREEK, WI – April 19, 2005 – The proposal before the Oak Creek City Council tp rezone the land form manufacturing to park land was successful, however, it was a little touchy for a while. Four out of six aldermen approved the rezoning of the land and the parks dept use of it as a dog park. The mayor of Oak Creek also expressed support in general.

Supervisor McCue was on hand to answer questions along with other reps from the parks dept. In general Oak Creek likes the idea of having a dog park and specifically that location.
Some security issues brought forward will be addressed in the plans. The Oak Creek Police Chief expressed concerns of the location of the parking lot and gate of the park. They are responsible for patrolling and right now the lot isn't visible from Rawson Ave, which means to patrol they'd have to drive through a road. Moving the gate to the park's parking lot, not the gate to the fences in dog park, maybe the answer but they agreed to work it out however it needed to be done. One key thing to note is that for safety reasons the park will only be open dusk to dawn just like most parks.

We want to thank the parks dept again for supporting this and Supervisor Ryan McCue for championing a dog park in his district. Things still look on schedule for the new park to open in June or July.

Feel free to contact us with any questions and thank you for your continued support.
